Four Seasons of ALC

Westcana Electric is proud to serve as a key trade partner on the new Vernon Active Living Centre (ALC).

A landmark $135 million, 189,000 sq. ft. municipal recreation facility located at 3501 43rd Avenue in Vernon, BC. Construction is actively progressing toward a targeted opening in Fall 2026.

To deliver a build of this scale and vision, the City of Vernon selected the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model, bringing together the owner, general contractor, architects, and key trade partners from day one. Selected as the unified electrical trade team, AltaPro Electric leads IPD management and specialized system design, while Westcana Electric delivers local field leadership, skilled Okanagan trade talent, and regional execution.

Construction Fly-Through

Collaborative IPD Delivery

Working in the project “Big Room” alongside the City of Vernon, Clark Builders, Group2 (ARCH), RJC Engineering (STRUCT), Ame Group (MECH), WSP (ELECT), Stantec (CIVIL), and our fellow trade partners, our joint electrical team leverages early-stage collaboration to:

  • BIM 3D Coordination: Resolve spatial clashes between complex building mechanics and specialized aquatic wiring long before field installation.

  • Target Value Design: Optimize high-efficiency power distribution and facility LED lighting to reduce lifecycle operational costs.

  • Lean Execution: Utilize pull-planning to streamline site logistics, eliminate schedule friction, and protect budget milestones.
